Publish Your Essay is a collection of prose non-fiction works written by visitors to Electricka's web site on subjects of their own choosing. Visitors can read them on their monitors. If authors permit, they can be downloaded, saved on a computer, and read later.

Think of the satisfaction and notoriety you'll have when you see your original expository prose work published at Electricka's web site! Think of the audience your work will have when it's published! Use this channel to get your message across or to help others. Whatever your motivation, whatever the type of expository prose you've written, publish it here.

The work you submit doesn't have to be a masterpiece and it can be written in any writing style on any subject or field of endeavor. You may even submit a work for publication on someone else's behalf (with their permission, of course). It doesn't even have to be an essay. As long as its written in expository prose it can be published here.

Works in the Publish Your Essay collection have a variety of different sources and publication histories. The collection contains works that:

  • Have been written and/or published elsewhere prior to publication in this feature.
  • Are written expressly by visitors to Electricka's web site specifically for publication at Electricka's web site. Some of these are seen here for the first time anywhere.
  • Have not been published prior to their appearance in this feature.

The Muse Of Language Arts calls this feature Publish Your Essay because it's a convenient title for this feature. However, despite it's name, Publish Your Essay is NOT restricted to essays. Publish Your Essay includes virtually any kind of expository prose work.

How to submit your  work for publication

Publishing your work is a simple, 2-step procedure:

  1. Read this guideline. It explains everything you need to know to submit a work for publication.
  2. Fill out and submit the Publish Your Essay form.

submission requirements

Works in the Publish Your Essay collection generally meet these requirements:

  • A work of non-fiction expository English prose.
  • Written at least in part by a visitor to Electricka's web site or by a collaboration of visitors.
  • Primarily in English (foreign language quotes or other constructions are fine).
  • Less than 250,000 words.
  • On a subject, topic, or theme of the author's own choosing. (Subjects taken from or related to the arts, Electricka's web site, and the muses are especially welcome.)
  • 100 percent original with the author(s) except for properly credited quotations, citations, references, photos, artwork, film clips, animations, music, sound bites, etc.
  • Meets The Muse's standards for relevance, quality, ethics, tastefulness, and appropriateness.
  • Completely finished by the author(s) when submitted. The Muse edits nothing.
  • Submit your file in Adobe PDF format if possible. If not in PDF format, Electricka's Staff will convert it to PDF format before publication.

A work can be accepted for publication even if it is not written especially for this feature. If your work has a previous publication history that you want Electricka to publish with your essay, include it in the comment section of the submission form and ask Electricka to publish it there.

Your work does not have to be submitted by the author(s). Electricka's policies apply.
